Adventure is learning, and Christian sees the Treuchtlingen Adventure Campus as the ideal location for active, hands-on university degree programs: He is proud to make these dreams a reality in the Adventure Campus - combining the best of theory and practice for the ultimate learning experience.

"These are the kind of study conditions that I dreamed of as a student. Experiential learning at its best"

Pierre Rafih joined the UAM team in 2005. A big change after 8 years of Investment Banking in the equity business. He hasn’t missed the stock exchange ever since. His family and friends would describe him as a Lebanese Bavarian with a French accent: Multicultural and multi-interested Pierre, who earned his Bachelors from the American Business School of Paris and his MBA from the University of Richmond, is an enthusiastic scuba diver who has seen the most beautiful reefs and wildest marine life at the best diving spots around the world.

Aside from teaching investment and finance as well as managerial accounting, Pierre’s fiercely devoted to getting students the best, the wildest, the most fun and unique experiences and is always eager to look for new and interesting activities to add to the Adventure’s Campus portfolio. As such, one of his primary responsibilities at the adventure campus are quality management and controlling.

I wish the Adventure Campus had existed when I was around as a student. At least I get to share some of the fun now!

Joel Schmidt has been teaching at the University of Applied Management since 2004, and as a full professor since 2007. As Program Manager for International & Intercultural Management, the new English Bachelor degree in Business Administration, Joel is convinced of the many advantages for international cooperation at the Adventure Campus. Joel brings his passion for team work, communication and active learning to all of his activities at the university, including international relations, teaching and curriculum development, campus devlopment and corporate training.

Originally from Vancouver, Canada, Joel has studied and worked in various international institutions. Some of his best educational experiences occured in settings where students and professors were active throughout the learning process. Individualized education means the student is more than just a number, and campus life can be thrilling when all parts of an institution are active contributors.

"The Adventure Campus is great because the learning process continues and is encouraged inside and outside of the classroom setting. Students and profs have the opportunity to live the learning together in "adventure" settings."
